I have worked in Business Tourism & the Association Sector for my entire professional career. I started in 1995 when I was recruited by one of the world’s largest Professional Congress Organisers and Association Management Consultancies, Kenes. Since then I have worked in congress & association management around the globe in various roles. I have expertise in most aspects of the industry from membership & registration through to industry sales, systems implementation, strategic planning, business development & financial control. With an extensive worldwide network of contacts, the natural progression for my career was to be instrumental in setting up my own event management company Confab Consulting in 2003 with two colleagues. As Managing Director my role focussed on Management, Business Development & Financial Control of the company & contracted congresses.
In 2009 a significant share of Confab was sold to The Kenes Group to form Kenes UK & I became Managing Director. I assisted in the development & growth of both the Conference & Association Management divisions of the business. In December 2012 I sold the remainder of my shares to The Kenes Group & stood down from the Kenes UK board.
I currently acts as an independent consultant. I sit on numerous industry advisory boards including Tourism Montreal, Confex & The UK Meetings Show & act as an ACC Affiliate to the City of Liverpool. I have been on the executive board of The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) since 2009 & Chairman since 2011. In my personal time, I am a keen triathlete & golfer & have a passion for photography & international travel. I am married to fellow South African Lauren, have 3 gorgeous children Josh, Allie and Evie and don’t forget Milo our 1 year old portuguese water dog!
