With over 20 years in the meetings industry throughout various levels, Rob Harrison now holds the position of Regional Managing Director of Congrex UK & Benelux overseeing 90 staff and management, who together, have delivered over 140 events in the past year alone equating to over 320,000 delegate days. The result has been substantial economic impact in the cities within which each was held
Rob began his days in the global events and conferences industry firstly part time when a student in Dublin and followed on as an intern with Congrex in Venezuela. He then joined the registration team delivering events for a number of national and international associations and societies as part of the Concorde Services Limited team in London. His passion for being an instrumental part of the operations team in delivering truly successful events together with his approach to managing procedures and systems was quickly realised, leading him to grow his position in Concorde to Operations Director within only 3 years.
In 2001, Rob left Concorde to create and co-found Shocklogic Global Ltd, a technology supplier to the meetings industry. Taking Shocklogic to a truly global marketplace was the ultimate vision for Rob which he was able to realise within the first 3 years following initial start-up. In 2005, he was approached by the Board and CEO of Congrex Group to lead the newly formed Congrex UK offices in London and Glasgow, both of which were new acquisitions by the Group.
Congrex UK, Belgium and Holland (6 offices) are now lead by Rob’s continued vision for organising and effectively managing the creative and efficient conferences and other management services their association clients, meetings and events for the corporate and government clients, around the globe. Rob represents Congrex at ICCA and IAPCO, is a member of MPI and sits on the Congrex Management Team.
