Member's profile

Daphne Llewellyn Davies has worked for Campden BRI since 1995. Her management career began with the Rank Organisation, joining their management training programme as a graduate trainee. She progressed to become the Sales Promotion Manager for their Management Training Films section and then to a similar role with Asahi Pentax & later in her career, the Minolta Camera Company where she also acted as liaison between the Japanese Head Office and the European subsidiaries. Prior to joining Campden BRI, Daphne ran her own food service business and administered a local regional food group.

As Business Development Manager, Daphne works closely with all departments and in particular, Training and Membership. Her main responsibilities are to strengthen the relationship between the members and Campden BRI, investigate and create new opportunities in order to promote the services that the Association can offer the food industry. She acts as project manager for 'special' events such as the International Trade Exhibitions where Campden BRI are represented and also the 28+ conferences and seminars produced by Campden BRI every year. Daphne collaborates with other organisations to produce larger and sometimes more complex events e.g. the Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium held in Minneapolis in 2007 and Florence in 2009, The Eurosense conferences that have taken place in Hamburg and currently planned to take place in Vitoria, Spain plus the European Fish & Seafood Conference in collaboration with Norconserv in Norway.

Daphne also works alongside Food Trade Exhibition organisers to enhance the show by creating 'Innovation Theatres' . This concept was very successful Foodex Show 2010 held at the NEC, and she is currently working on a major project for the Food and drink TEST Expo to be held in Cologne on 8-10 February 2011, where a theatre featuring 12 presentations per day on Food microbiology, Food chemistry and Food hygiene will be a major focus for the exhibition.

Daphne was also a member of the Fast Track Advisory Committee for Food from Britain. She has also written several 'Marketplace reports' that focused on current trends and spoken at conferences and seminars in the EU.
