The Conference Cloud: A Campaign by ABPCO

The Conference Cloud is an award winning campaign launched by ABPCO in July 2011 to encourage conference venues across the UK to offer free wi-fi to delegates.

Our aim is to garner support for the campaign and to work with UK conference venues to develop a service that works for them. Ultimately, our goal is to give conference buyers what they need to run successful, interactive conferences and events here in the UK. We have already achieved significant success, with over 200 venue sites signed up to offer free wi-fi to delegates, including some of the UK’s largest convention centres.

About the Campaign

ABPCO initially made the decision to champion the Conference Cloud campaign following feedback from its PCO members regarding their clients’ increasing demands to offer Wi-Fi to their visiting delegates at no charge. As smartphone usage grows exponentially across the globe, keeping in touch when away from the office has never been more important.

Wi-Fi for Delegates – the life-blood of conferences

Added to this is the increased requirement for internet access as a fundamental element in conference communications during the event, such as Twitter, e-voting and many other applications. Access to good quality Wi-Fi is becoming fundamental to the success of interactive conferences now and in the future. We want to work together with venues and the events industry to make free wi-fi a reality for delegates attending UK conferences and events.

Our aim is to work with conference venues across the UK to encourage them to offer conference delegates free Wi-Fi, helping to keep Britain ahead of the curve in terms of supporting delegates’ needs for connectivity.

How does it work?

Once we have confirmation from your conference venue that you offer free Wi-Fi to conference delegates, we will upload your details, including a web link to this page for free.  We will also send you the Conference Cloud logo for use in your marketing materials. ABPCO member venues are given priority listing including a logo.

Delegate Accommodation

As of September 2012, hotels that offer Wi-Fi free of charge to conference delegates in their accommodation, regardless of whether they provide conferencing facilities, are also eligible to sign up to the Conference Cloud campaign.

Once we have confirmation that you offer free Wi-Fi to conference delegates in their accommodation, we will upload your details, including a web link, to this page for free. We will also send you the Conference Cloud logo for use in your marketing materials and a window sticker to display in your venue. If you offer both conferencing and accommodation facilities, you will be listed on the venues page of this website.
