I have been working in events for 10 years, in the Higher Education and Third Sector. These range from alumni reunions and dinners at high-profile venues to more recently working on medical conferences at the Stroke Association.
As the UK’s leading stroke charity, we believe that stroke can and should be prevented, and we believe in the power of research to save lives. There are more than 100,000 strokes in the UK each year; that is around one stroke every five minutes with over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK.
The Stroke Association hosts the UK Stroke Forum which is a coalition over 30 organisations all committed to improving stroke care in the UK. The team organise two annual multidisciplinary conferences for healthcare professionals – a three-day event for 1500 attendees and a one-day event for 200 attendees.
Our aim is to provide opportunities for all stroke professionals and researchers to come together so they can learn from each other, share ideas and ultimately improve standards of care for stroke survivors.
As the Exhibitions and Sponsorship Manager, I work with companies from a range of disciplines including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, education institutions etc. to produce a high quality, interactive and engaging exhibition for delegates of the UK Stroke Forum and Northern Ireland Stroke Conference.
