In response to members’ suggestions, we are combining our AGM with some interactive conference sessions designed for association conference organisers. The programme includes insightful presentations from industry leaders, complemented by the sharing of best practice by ABPCO’s own agency and in-house PCO practitioners.
Enjoy this opportunity to spend a day with your peers in association conference management, sharing experiences and learning from each other.

Friday 13th January 10am – 3.30pm
The programme has been designed to include presentations and moderated discussions as well as substantial opportunities for networking with fellow members. The atmosphere will be relaxed, in typical ABPCO fashion. Members, who face the same challenges and problems that you do, will freely exchange ideas and experiences.
Highlights will include:
· the commencement of ABPCO’s 30th anniversary celebrations
· the launch of the ‘ABPCO members app’, demonstrating how you can engage with members’ and content anytime, any place, anywhere
· practical information about our new in-house mentoring scheme and how it can benefit you
· an important update on the industry’s Event Management Apprenticeship scheme from Mark Riches. The scheme is now fully approved which means ABPCO members can employ entry level apprentices from January 2017. You will hear about the advantages of employing apprentices, accessing government funding, and understanding what support there is for skills development in our industry.
We are delighted to welcome back the BBC Midlands Today main presenter Mary Rhodes who will chair the proceedings and quiz the presenters to ensure a dynamic exchange of information and views.
Once the formal meeting has finished, we will adjourn for lunch. I am delighted to announce that our after lunch speaker is John Hotowka who will address us on the subject of ‘Achievement Thinking – Achieve more… even when you don’t feel like it’. Even when times are hard there are always people and organisations who are successful and resilient. What’s more they flourish irrespective of the state of the economy and the challenges thrown at them. The key lies in their mind-set. THIS MIND-SET CAN BE LEARNED – ‘Achievement Thinking’ is a collection of simple tools to empower and help you find, keep and grow the strength to continuously flourish, manage the inevitability and uncertainty of change and build resilience.
Professionally John’s methodology has helped companies and individuals hit their annual sales 3 months ahead of target. He even applied his methodology to his personal life and safely lost 7st of excess weight. Now it’s your turn, what would you like to achieve?
I hope to see you in January.
