Founded in 1981 Academic Venue Solutions mission is to help member venues to identify and maximise their commercial opportunities, by working collaboratively and strategically. Our vision is to be the leading collection of academic venues, connecting event organisers with unique meeting spaces and learning environments across the UK.
Membership of Academic Venue Solutions is open to all types of academic venues, anywhere in the UK. We have nationwide members on our books and we’re proud of the variety of high-quality meeting spaces and hotel-standard accommodation that our members offer.
Our team, led by Rachael Lee works directly with the member venues and event organisers to build relationships and understand their needs and requirements. The result is a free venue-finding service, matching event planners with a list of specialist academic venues that can help.
Our Board, chaired by Clare Forster, includes hospitality industry specialists and senior operations managers, as well as marketing and events experts. They have a profound understanding of both the needs and requirements of event planners, and the challenges the Higher Education sector faces in the commercial marketplace

Rachael Lee is a seasoned professional in the hospitality sector With a career spanning over 25 years, Rachael has become a notable figure in the industry, driven by a passion for ethical functions and making a positive impact.
In 2017, Rachael embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by establishing her own business. The company has been a beacon of support for hotel and academic venues offering strategic insights and fostering business growth. Currently in her seventh year, Rachael is deeply involved in managing and promoting the membership organisation Academic Venue Solutions. This project not only showcases academic venues to event buyers it also establishes a network for like-minded individuals with the academic and events space.
An accomplished leader, Rachael’s career highlights include successfully managing a 30-strong team at Warwick Conferences, part of the University of Warwick, for a decade and achieving an impressive £25m sales target. In 2022 she clinched the management contract for Academic Venue Solutions in her own right, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.
Beyond her business endeavours Rachael holds a significant role as board director for EventWell, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting wellness in the event industry. Her commitment to the holistic well-being of professionals in the field underscores her belief in the importance of a balanced and healthy work life.
