Edinburgh First, the Accommodation, Catering and Events department at the University of Edinburgh has a large portfolio of historic and modern buildings that reflect it's 400-year history. From the contemporary, purpose built facilities at the John McIntyre Conference Centre to the historic 15th century Playfair Library, Edinburgh First boasts more than 16 venues.
In addition to conference and event venues Edinburgh First offers conference accommodation in the city, including the newly refurbished Salisbury Green Hotel and Bistro. There are 160 hotel bedrooms are available throughout the year and an additional 2000 campus bedrooms can be booked during the summer months.
Should conference organisers require specialist support with the management of their conference, Edinburgh First has a full Event Management service. This services includes venue, catering, and technical services liaison, coordinating sponsors and exhibitors as well as financial management which entails: budgeting, supplier payments and collection of delegate fees.
After graduating with a Communication BA (Hons) degree, Louise soon learned she was well suited to the event management industry. Louise has gained 16 years of industry experience which has included previous roles such as the Conference Manager at Our Dynamic Earth, before taking up the role as Conference and Events Manager at Edinburgh First.
Louise's projects can vary significantly in size and complexity from seminars and dinners to residential conferences for up to 2000 delegates. Louise has project managed international and high profile conferences collaborating with and working alongside conference hosts and committee members. What drives Louise is building strong, lasting client relationships and working as a team to produce successful conferences and events with a lasting legacy.
