North of Scotland Advanced Practice Academy To Host International Advanced Practice Conference at P&J Live

The North of Scotland Advanced Practice Academy (NoSAPA), today announces that Aberdeen's P&J Live is to host the 2024 International Council for Nurses' Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Nursing (ICN NP / APN) Network Conference, set to attract over 800 delegates from around the world from 9th to 12th September 2024.

Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen is delighted to be involved in supporting the conference programme, which will be developed in collaboration with all regional Health Boards and Universities in the North of Scotland.

This is the first time this event has been held in Scotland, and aims to help shape the future of healthcare by providing a forum for sharing and exchanging expertise and experience, while supporting nurses and countries who are in the process of introducing or developing Advance Practice roles.

Kathleen Carolan, Chair of NoSAPA, said: "The Academy is delighted to have been selected to host the conference in Aberdeen in 2024. It is a great opportunity for advanced practitioners in Scotland and across the UK to connect, learn and share best practice with colleagues around the world.

We intend to build a programme that really showcases the multi-professional models of advanced practice that have been developed across Scotland and how the use of digital technology has been used to improve access to learning, supervision and new models of patient care. How we use innovation and technology to support environmentally and socially responsible advanced practice will be a key theme for the 2024 conference."

The last conference of this kind to be hosted in the UK was in London in 2012. Naturally this is an exciting opportunity for Scotland to showcase current interdisciplinary research, shaping advanced practice for the future.

Dr Daniela Lehwaldt, Chair ICN NP/ APN Network, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have the 13th International Council of Nurses (ICN) Nurse Practitioner (NP)/ Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Conference coming to Aberdeen. This is the main global event for Advanced Practice Nurses worldwide to come together, network and share their expertise and research with an international audience. If you are interested in NP/APN roles, interventions, leadership and impact on individuals, families and population health, do not hesitate to join us. All practitioners, educators, policy makers, regulators, researchers and interested parties are most welcome to contribute and attend. See you there!"

In addition, Dr Michelle Acorn, Chief Nurse, Nursing and Programmes, International Council of Nurses said: "As a Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Nurse, investing in and supporting nurse leaders to improve access to universal health care can also leverage value added quality solutions for global health workforce capacity building."

Steve Daun, Head of Sales (Associations) for P&J Live's operating company, ASM Global, said: "Our team worked closely with the North of Scotland Academy, Robert Gordon University, VisitAberdeenshire and many of our local partners to bring this event to Scotland, and we are delighted to be chosen as the 2024 host location. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our incredible region and venue to a global audience."
