Customers are spoilt for choice at the ICC, as it completes latest phase of multi-million-pound refurbishment

ICC Birmingham is pleased to present the latest phase of its multi-million-pound venue refurbishment programme, with a key focus on the venue’s smaller hall offering.

Halls 6 and 7 - with maximum capacities of 120 and 140 respectively - are ideal for hosting conferences, dinners and breakout sessions. The spaces can be sub-divided for further flexibility, and have been upgraded with new lighting, fixtures and fittings to fit the theming of the wider venue. Fittings include two x 86-inch displays and four x 65-inch displays, plus an enhanced Cat 6 cable infra-structure, giving organisers the ability to send data to the screens (using AV convertors) wherever they are in the room.

All ten of the venue’s Executive Rooms (two - 50 delegates), have also benefitted from the refurbishment, with rooms three and four now offering organisers the ability to open the rooms out as one.

Allan Boyle, General Manager for NEC Group Conventions said: “I feel there is a perception in the marketplace that the ICC only does large, 1000+ delegate events. Whilst we do host large international congresses, we take just as much pride and dedication in delivering smaller events.”

Aimed at enhancing the customer experience, a majority of the works have come as a result of listening to customer feedback. Now boasting an average recommendation score of 9.8 out of 10*, the wider programme has ensured the upgrading of all flat floor halls (20 - 3000 delegates), plus improvements to wayfinding, blade screens, Wi-Fi and bathroom facilities. These have all future-proofed the venue so it can continue to deliver incredible events.

Boyle concluded: “We’ve worked extremely hard to provide a venue that can really help our customers to spark success through their events. For every aspect of the refurbishment, customer needs and desires have been considered to create an environment that goes above and beyond that of your standard conference and meetings venue. Over our 28-year history, we have established ourselves as leaders in the sector, but to maintain our position, it is so important to consistently explore new ways of enhancing our offering and reinvest in our facilities.”
