Role overview

To lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of individual events within RenewableUK’s commercial programme. The Events Manager will take ownership of assigned events and projects, ensuring they are delivered to a high standard, on time, and within budget, while providing an exceptional experience for delegates, sponsors, speakers, and stakeholders. 

Role and responsibilities

The role includes but is not limited to the following:

End-to-end event management

Lead and project manage specific events, taking full accountability for planning, delivery, and post-event evaluation. This includes exhibitions, conferences, networking receptions, and awards dinners.

Operational planning and delivery

Manage all operational aspects of events including venue liaison, AV and catering coordination, delegate registration, exhibition floorplans, speaker management, and event collateral. Ensure smooth on-site delivery and manage contractor relationships and queries. 

Budget and financial oversight

The Events Manager will track all expenditure for the event, keeping within budgets and monitor performance. 

Supplier and venue liaison 

Conduct research to identify new suppliers and venues, liaising with internal teams to ensure alignment. Oversee contractor performance to guarantee delivery against agreed standards and timelines. 

Digital platforms and communications

Maintain and update event websites and apps with accurate and engaging content. Support marketing efforts by providing timely information and assets.

Customer experience

Deliver high-quality customer service through the management of a shared inbox, handling daily enquiries and inbound phone calls as well as onsite at events.  

Stakeholder engagement

Oversee the smooth handover of sponsorships from the sales team, ensuring all package deliverables are fulfilled and strong sponsor relationships are maintained throughout the lifecycle. 

Innovation and continuous improvement

Contribute to the ongoing improvement of event delivery, customer engagement, and operational efficiency. Bring creative ideas to enhance the uniqueness and impact of each event. 

Team collaboration

Work closely with the Events Team, supporting other team-led events as needed. Participate in regular planning meetings and contribute to team development. 

Sustainability and safety

Support the organisation’s commitment to ISO 20121 by embedding sustainable practices into event planning. Prioritise safe and accessible event environments, including risk assessments and compliance.

Additional duties

Coordinate group accommodation and travel bookings. Carry out other tasks as reasonably requested, in line with capabilities and team priorities. 

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, and be available to begin work from the start date of Monday 13 July.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Experience leading and owning event projects from start to finish 
  • Awareness of on-site operations, including the management of guest flow and attendee experience. 
  • Proven experience in delivering profitable events including exhibitions and conferences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and suppliers effectively
  • Familiarity with health & safety procedures and completion of risk assessments
  • Experience managing event budgets and financial reconciliation
  • Highly organised with excellent event logistics and project management skills
  • Strong customer service skills and stakeholder engagement abilities 
  • Expert event administration and operational planning skills
  • Commercial acumen and understanding of sponsorship value
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Excel
  • Ability to prepare event briefs, delivery plans, and manage timelines
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make sound judgments
  • Collaborative team player with a professional and politically aware approach
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally abroad
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required 

Desirable

  • Experience working within a membership organisatio
  • Ability to create and interpret exhibition floorplans
  • Understanding of webinar and online event delivery
  • Experience of updating websites and apps
  • Awareness of ISO 20121 and sustainable event practices
  • IOSH Managing Safely in Events & Exhibitions Qualification
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience using social media for event promotion
  • Interest in environmental issues, energy, and the renewable energy sector
