Personal Statement
EMD have many years experience in event management and administration. We work with scientific societies to offer a full event management service, including venue finding, negotiation, budget management, speaker liaison, exhibition management, accommodation, delegate management, conference and Faculty dinners, as well as flyer design and print, website and social media updates and feedback collation/reporting.
We also offer membership and administrative services, ensuring your society runs smoothly and members are looked after. This can be quoted for separately or as part of the event quote should you need both services.
Our USP is that we integrate ourselves into your team and so it feels like we're all working to achieve the same thing - we take the lead so you don't have to, but we ensure you're with us and informed throughout the journey and updated regularly.
We are available on the phone, email, Teams or in person and actively encourage regular 'check in's to ensure you're happy with the progress of a project. Meetings are not charged for, they are part of the process so we are happy to arrange these as frequently as needed.
We are based in Sheffield but travel all over the UK to deliver events, and so have some excellent relationships with venues to allow for preferential rates but can also assist with venue finding as with our wealth of experience.
Our quote covers our fee, with no 'crystal ball prices' so we charge for our service and then any additions are directly passed to the client. For example, if we book a hotel for £150 a night, this is charged back directly with no handling or admin fee.
We are a small, dedicated team who our clients get to know well. You'd have a main contact name for your events (no passing between members of the team!) who will be your support throughout - including on site for event days.
We are proud of what we do, the standard of events we deliver and the quality of service, all of which is evident by the fact we have retained 95% of clients since we started as a business.
Role & Skill Areas
Having set up the business over 25 years ago, I have worked hard to build the client base and recruit more staff as the business grows. We are now a team of 15 and offer end to end event management as well as society administrative services and editorial services for medical journals.
My role as Director is to oversee the running of the business whilst also keeping in touch with clients and ensuring we continue to deliver to the high level we are known for.
The team are skilled in all areas of event management, but we have certain members of staff who are knowledgeable in the ABPI code of practice as well as those who are skilled in design and websites and others who manage the finances and budgets for our clients.This allows us to be really flexible and deliver on multiple levels, utilising the skills within the team.
We have delivered meetings for 25 and conferences for 2,500 - each with the same level of detail and commitment because a successful event for our clients is a successful event for EMD.
Experience
Whilst EMD was born 25+ years ago, together with the rest of the team we have many many years of experience and knowledge. The staff have varied backgrounds including many who have Event Management Degrees, some who have worked in hospitality, others who have years of experience in events, and some who are new to the industry but joined us with different backgrounds, who each bring a new and varied approach to our services.
