Passionate about ensuring the veterinary sector has access to high quality education and community through Congress. Worked across the agricultural & food supply chain with specialist knowledge on food security, sustainability. Experienced with global launches, strategic marketing and PR campaigns.
My current role is Head of Partnerships, which includes our two Congress events and our new delegate-led event launching soon. I am the interface between the Association and the major employers and large organisations who would like to work together in a more joined up way, and in a way that delivers value to the veterinary profession in the long term. Congress is one of the largest events in the world that is dedicated to small animal veterinary medicine. We are hugely proud of our scientific content, our full social programme and that we are ‘by the profession for the profession’ and so our focus is on putting on the best possible event in conjunction with our volunteers.
Putting people together is my raison d’etre. That feeling of bringing together experts, learners, knowledge sharers and seeing the results makes all the hard work worth it. Live events are an excellent opportunity to do this en masse, whether it’s in large groups for lectures and socials, or breakfasts with a specialists, knowing that we have had an impact on someone’s life through world-class education, or providing a networking situation that expands their horizon is extremely rewarding.
I have a varied skill set from launching products across the globe, rebrands, and crisis communications through to operational experience, emergency response and supply chain knowledge. All of this ensures that I am flexible, agile in my approach to challenges, and most importantly creative in all that I do. Sustainability is always on my to do list – and finding ways that the events world can reduce its negative impact is one of my current focal points. We have managed to strip out many single use plastic items, have sourced ethical & sustainable suppliers, and using this agenda item to work with suppliers in a new way has opened up many conversations and cemented partnerships.
Working in a collaborative way is important to ensure all viewpoints and consequences are mapped out and mitigated where possible, but also the variety that this provides and often from unexpected sources. I am used to working on JVPs with both private and academic institutions, working with volunteers and trustees.
There’s always more to learn, more to research and more to practice and that’s the joy of live events where everything is always changing.
