Within less than a mile of the SEC is the largest university hospital in Europe, the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital run by over 10,000 healthcare professionals. Glasgow is also home to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow who are proud to be the only Royal College in the UK who welcome healthcare professionals across the range of medical and surgical specialties.

The SEC adopts responsible practices with the wellbeing of staff and visitors in mind. It is the first venue in the world to be accredited in the Healthy Venue Scheme and achieved Silver Status, introducing initiatives to increase activity and mobility during conference and give conference visitors the opportunity to make healthier menu choices.
