EICC scoops Responsible Business of the Year Award

05 March 2026: World-class conference and events venue, Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has won the Responsible Business of the Year award at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Taking place on the 26th of February, the ceremony celebrated the organisations, teams and individuals driving growth, innovation and positive impact across Edinburgh’s business community.

EICC received the accolade at an awards ceremony at the venue, in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre. The judges commented: “We were looking for organisations who undertake meaningful engagement with the local community, and with sustainability embedded within its business strategy and operations, EICC ticked all the boxes.

“Not only has EICC taken steps to reduce carbon emissions by 60% since 2013 despite doubling its output, but its work also connects culture, sustainability and social value in a practical and lasting way through free public talks and charity partnerships as well as education inclusion and wellbeing initiatives.’

Amanda Wrathall, Chief Executive Officer, EICC, said: “This recognition from the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce matters because it reflects the work happening every day across our venue. Creating meaningful impact for our communities, our economy and our environment sits at the centre of our strategy.

Through meaningful collaboration, ambitious sustainability programmes and our commitment as a Real Living Wage employer, we are focused on building a more responsible events industry and driving collective progress for people, place and planet.

This award is a testament to the dedication of our team and to our belief that business events can be a force for good, locally, and beyond”

Through a wide range of programmes, EICC turns events into catalysts for social, environmental and economic impact. The judges particularly commended EICC for its EICC Live series of free public talks, which is committed to community engagement and quality education.

The judges also highlighted EICC’s community contribution through its Event Impact Reports, which give clients a transparent view of their environmental, social and economic footprint.

Finally, the judges praised the venue for its comprehensive sustainability strategy. Initiatives include its use of You Smart Thing to promote low-carbon delegate travel; collaboration with Foodsteps to provide menu-level carbon data; redistribution of surplus food through OLIO, transforming potential waste into social value and meals for those in need; and the venue’s Impact Network, which links conferences with local schools, charities and community projects to advance equality, wellbeing and inclusion.
