All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events Holds Annual General Meeting

Martin Rhodes MP re-elected as Chair

20 April 2026: Westminster, London. The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events (APPG) has re-elected Martin Rhodes, Labour MP for Glasgow North as its Chair following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 14th April 2026 at Portcullis House, Westminster.

His reappointment will ensure the work of the APPG continues to recognise and support the UK’s events sector across Parliament and Westminster.

In addition, James Asser, Labour MP for West Ham and Beckton, Douglas McAllister, Labour MP for West Dunbartonshire and Jack Rankin, Conservative MP for Windsor, were also re-elected as the groups Officers, and will support in driving the direction of the APPG alongside the group’s Chair.

Martin Rhodes commented: “I am very pleased to have been re-elected as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events, and to be able to continue to support our world leading events sector. Having had the opportunity to meet with several representatives from across the industry at our recent evidence session, it is clear to me that events play a vital role in driving growth, trade and investment across the whole of the UK, and the opportunities to further grow the event economy in Britain are obvious. I look forward to working with my fellow Officers and Parliamentary colleagues to further strengthen the industry’s voice in Parliament and ensuring that the events sector receives the recognition and support it needs and deserves.”

The EGM was chaired by Independent Chair Emma Lewell, Labour Member of Parliament for South Shields.

PR & Communications agency Davies Tanner, through its The Business of Events Think Tank and Advocacy Network, manages the APPG for Events and acts as a Special Advisor to the group.
