Meet in Wales Talks Tech at ibtm

Meet in Wales is set to share insight into one of the destination’s emerging industrial sectors when it arrives at ibtm later this month. The team will use the international forum to bring to light the destination’s affinity with some of the most important growth industries around the world, but specifically within the vital semiconductor industry.

As part of the event, Meet in Wales will present Nick Fagan, Creative Technologist at DRPG, and entrepreneur Jason Allan Scott, who will talk about semiconductors and their influence on the technological landscape of business, including events. Semiconductors are a major global opportunity, and one that Wales is leading on, boasting some of the most forward-thinking businesses and research centres on the planet.

In recent years Wales has transformed its business landscape, having evolved to concentrate on industrial and service-based activities, from technology to Fin Tech, renewables to creativity. The destination sees events as a key driver of this economic growth, and Meet in Wales is working with experts from across these sectors to bring greater knowledge to the world of meetings and events within Wales.

In the meantime, following the recent broadening of its Ambassador Wales Conference Programme, the destination is further growing its influence across its key industry sectors, including technology. The programme, which provides a network of influential private individuals from fields such as academia, medical and business who, whilst leading in their own professional field, dedicate personal time, energy, and enthusiasm to champion Wales as a meeting and events destination, has grand ambitions that will also be showcased at ibtm.

“There has never been a more exciting time to be doing business in Wales and we’re delighted to bring knowledge from within our centres of industrial excellence into ibtm, and to add value to the meetings and events industry,” commented Heledd Williams, Head of Business Events at Meet in Wales. “We’re looking forward to connecting with our peers and customers around the world and presenting just one more reason why Wales continues to be an excellent choice for events.”

As well as bringing expertise to the technology content of ibtm’s educational programme, Meet in Wales will also be showcasing some of the destination’s key business event specialists, including; Celtic Manor Resort, ICC Wales, Voco St David’s Hotel, Meet in Cardiff, Meet North Wales, Orchard Media and Events, Principality Stadium, Seren Events PCO, Vale Resort & Hensol Castle, and Venue Cymru.

Country-wide there is growing support for enterprise and the role business events play in attracting and supporting key industrial sectors. Event Wales supports the events industry in Wales by targeting new events into the destination, as well as supporting the growth of indigenous events. The remit is to support; sport and mass participation, arts & culture and business events. Supporting wider efforts is the Development Bank of Wales, dedicated to promoting Welsh industry and commerce. During its first five years of trading, the bank has supported more than 3,000 businesses with an overall economic impact of £1.2 billion.
