Event Industry Challenge Opportunity

Are you facing a persistent business challenge that demands more time and resources than you currently have available?

We're offering ABPCO Members an innovative solution: submit your complex challenge to be tackled by a team of talented third-year event management students from Leeds Beckett University as their consultancy project alternative to a dissertation.

This dual-benefit opportunity allows you to receive fresh perspectives on your challenge while simultaneously supporting the professional development of emerging event management talent.

Mosaic Events partnered with students from Leeds Beckett in the last year on a sustainability consultancy project. The team carried out industry research, gathered primary data, and consulted sustainability professionals to build a set of practical, actionable recommendations tailored to Mosaic. The final deliverables included a full sustainability policy, a checklist for future event planning, carbon measurement and reporting guidance, food waste reduction recommendations, environmental and social impact KPIs, and a phased implementation plan with monitoring measures to track progress over time. The team went a step further by professionally printing the report and presenting it to us as a genuine working resource, one we're now using to shape our sustainability approach across future events.

They brought a genuinely fresh perspective, real academic rigour, and a huge amount of enthusiasm to the project. What impressed us most was how practical and usable the final recommendations were this wasn't just a university exercise; it was a proper piece of consultancy work we can actually put into practice. We're really grateful for their hard work and excited to build on it as we develop our own sustainability plans.’

How to Participate:

• Complete the challenge submission form by Friday, September 4, 2026
• Student groups will select their preferred projects in October 2026
• Meet with your assigned student group in mid-October 2026 (virtually or in-person)
• Maintain communication with the team between November 2026 and April 2027 (as needed again can be virtually)
• Receive presented solutions to your challenge in early May 2027
