NEC named Venue of the Year at AEO Excellence Awards

NEC Birmingham has been named Venue of the Year – more than 20,000sqm – at the AEO Excellence Awards.

Marking the 30th-anniversary celebration of the AEO Excellence Awards, the event represented the best that the events industry has to offer, showcasing the achievements from within the industry from organisers, venues and service providers.

It’s been a year to remember for the NEC, who hosted 1.8 million visitors across 172 events in the last year. This included hosting four events and their para sport counterparts at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG), as well as delivering its first-ever outdoor music festival, Wireless Festival.

Ian Taylor, Managing Director for Conventions & Exhibitions at the NEC, said: “The AEO Excellence Awards are the gold standard in the industry and for that reason we are thrilled to have been named Venue of the Year – more than 20,000sqm.

“The award is testament to the hard work from everyone across our business in delivering some of our most impressive and exciting projects to date.

“I’d like to place on record my thanks to everyone involved at the AEO for this award - and for putting on such a memorable event. A huge congratulations also, to all the other winners and finalists.”
