ABPCO reveals shortlist for Excellence Awards 2019

The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) has revealed the finalists for its 2019 Excellence Awards.

  • Best Conference by an In-House Conference Organiser – Royal College of Physicians, National Cancer Research Institute, RenewableUK

  • Best Conference by an Agency Conference Organiser – Healthcare Conferences UK, Bioscientifica Ltd, MCI Group

  • Best Industry Partnership – Manchester Central, Cvent, Edinburgh First

The winners of the 2019 ABPCO Excellence Awards will be revealed on Wednesday 11 December, 2019 at the newly built ICC Wales. Coinciding with the annual Chairmen’s lunch, the award ceremony is a prestigious event attended by ABPCO members and leaders from within the association conference industry.

Shortlisted candidates have been selected by an independent panel of judges, but the winners will not be selected until the event itself – where the finalists each present details of their submission to a room full of peers, who vote on the final outcome.

“This is the sixth year that we have run the ABPCO excellence awards and each year the judging process becomes more challenging,” comments Heather Lishman, ABPCO’s association director. “We not only see an increase in entries each year but the quality of the submissions just keeps improving. This year we saw details of innovation, collaboration and creativity amongst the entries on an unprecedented level. The scores amongst the finalists were incredibly close with many high quality and exciting events only just missing out on a place in the final.”

The 2019 ABPCO Excellence Awards will also include the presentation of the ABPCO Chairmen’s award, which goes to an individual or organisation displaying exceptional levels of professionalism, whilst balancing ABPCO’s core pillars of Belonging, Excellence and Learning.

Heather concludes: “Over the last five years ABPCO’s Excellence Awards and Chairmen’s Lunch has been hosted in London, Brighton, Manchester, Harrogate and Glasgow. The spread of destinations reflects not just our diverse membership but also the support we receive from partner members. We are truly excited this year to be hosted by such a new and cutting-edge venue and look forward to seeing what ICC Wales has to offer our attendees.”
