Scottish Event Campus to donate food to Glasgow charity

The Scottish Event Campus has announced a partnership with Glasgow charity, Launch Foods. The collaboration will see Scotland’s national event venue provide surplus food to Launch who then aim to feed children in poverty across Glasgow.

Launch Foods, a social enterprise, provides hot, nutritious meals to children after their school day and during the holidays. In 40 weeks, the Launch team provided over 45,000 free meals from their American-style food trucks across the city.

The venue’s catering partner, SEC Food, will give surplus event food to Launch who can then use it in their trucks. Where possible, the SEC Food team will also donate kitchen equipment.

Jamie Anderson, Venue Director at SEC Food, said: “We are very excited to be working with Craig and the team at Launch Foods. SEC Food are passionate about giving back – be it through sustainability initiatives or through programmes like Launch.”

Craig Johnson, founder of Launch Foods, said, “I don’t believe we should be seeing children going hungry in this day and age – that’s why I started Launch in the first place. It’s so important to us to receive support from local organisations like the SEC.

“We’ve had great success over the past year and are looking to open two retail outlets in Glasgow city centre soon. This wouldn’t be possible without all the support we have had, and we would like to thank everyone who has joined us on the journey so far.”

Launch Coffee, on Bothwell Street, will open in the coming months and will support the Launch Foods mission.
